PROJECT: Church Street
LOCATION: Ventura, CA

SUMMARY: J Weir Masterworks was approached to craft a feasibility report and conceptualize a design-build, ground-up, three-story hillside residence with sweeping ocean views of the Channel Islands. The challenge laid out by the client was to “strike the balance of sophisticated architecture, reduce hillside structural costs and understand resale margins.” The team worked up against a constricted building envelope, put forth hard efforts in the reduction of concrete and shoring, and cladded the building in a rain screen and plaster balance with a metal standing seam roof. With these hard efforts, we met market value with margins and saved resources to be used for a following development for the investor/client.
