J Weir Masterworks believes in giving back by investing in tomorrows future builders, tradesmen and tradeswomen and promoting the fields of architecture and construction. Joshua Weir was raised in Ventura and attended Buena High School, where he took advanced classes all four years in math, fine art and drafting while fulfilling the demands of the school varsity wrestling team. Joshua works closely with the Buena High Industrial arts class by providing field trip opportunities, classroom presentations and supporting the teaching staff with feedback to prepare students for life after high school in the construction industry.
Every year Joshua Weir is invited back into the advanced Industrial Arts class at Buena High School in Ventura. Josh is an alumnus and presents to the class of Juniors and Seniors about his history, current business and life beyond the classroom. It is an intentional time of casting direction and vision for a future in construction, reflection and encouragement.
J Weir Masterworks opened up their job site in the Toro Canyon area of Montecito to the Santa Barbara chapter of the AIA for a “hard hat” tour. Those in attendance were architects, interior designers and design professionals. Josh Blumer of AB Design Studio lead the tour and conversation about his vision as the architect. Three years later, the project was awarded the AIA Honor Award.
Early on, J Weir Masterworks built a bond with Festool. We strongly believe they make the best tools, and in turn, they believe in the high level of craftsmanship we achieve in the field. We invested in Festool, and Festool invested in us. We have been featured in 2011 Festool USA’s blog, interviewed and sited in magazine articles, web edits and social media, as well as the Fall 2013 New Products brochure. Every year, we meet with the R&D team from Germany and pilot new tools. We are grateful to have a lasting relationship built on trust and honesty.
